Phalaenopsis appendiculata
Synonyms: Polychilos appendiculata (Shim 1982), Doritis appendiculata (T. Yukawa & K. Kita, 2005), Grussia appendiculata (M. Wolff, 2007)
Origins: Malaysia
My Note: In the series of utterly cute plants, here's one that I absolutely adore.
Firstly, it's tiny, and let's be honest, it's small, it's cute.
Of course, knowing me, I would say the same thing about many Phalaenopsis, but this one is truly a micro plant.
It barely measures 6 cm in diameter, which is a very decent size for a Phalaenopsis appendiculata, currently with 2 spikes. Note that the hybrids with this plant are stunning and floriferous.
How I Grow It: It's bare-rooted on a cork plaque with fertilizer at each watering, all under 90% humidity with ventilation between 24 and 28 degrees Celsius (75-82 degrees Fahrenheit).
Some have managed to maintain it potted with bark.
My Recommendations:
1 - Before buying this plant, make sure you have the proper conditions for it.
2 - Then tell yourself that if by chance you find one for sale, see condition 1.
3 - If you meet conditions 1 & 2, go for it!
